| | Dear friends and partners of the Peace Palace,
In the last update which we sent out three months ago, I mentioned that the Peace Palace was carefully preparing to reopen again. And by now, it's a fact! The first in-person hearings of the Courts have already taken place, and The Hague Academy of International Law has just announced that the 2022 Winter Courses are going to be held online and on-site. In addition, guests of our Visitors Centre no longer need to make a reservation prior to their visit.
While facilitating the courts and therewith "Peace through Law," we are also again able to support "Peace through Dialogue" by hosting events in our auditorium. And as part of "Peace through Culture," we were delighted to welcome about 500 people in our beautifully lit garden to participate in the inspiring evening walk "Art of Peace."
Our cultural and educational projects are financed by revenues from tours, room rental, funds and donations. Therefore, we are very proud and grateful to welcome our first Peace Patron, Tom Johnson from Pittsburgh. Thanks to the support of our partners, friends and visitors, we are able to open our doors and organize activities to promote peace.
Our founder Andrew Carnegie once wrote that the world takes on a brighter radiance from the day the Temple of Peace opens its doors. We take pride in finally being able to bring this ray of light back to the people.
With best regards, Erik de Baedts Director Carnegie Foundation - Peace Palace |
